pedro_vit
Does anybody know if the Sigma AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS (Optical Stabilizer) Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras is compatible with the Canon EOS D60 Because the specs for the Sigma lens indicate:Exclusively designed for use with digital SLR cameras featuring APS-C size image sensor. and I dont know if the Canon EOS D60 has this type of image sensor. bobatkins
Yes, the D60 has an APS-C sized sensor. So the Sigma lens will have an image circle large enough to fully illuminate the D60 sensor. Sigma lenses have been known to show some electronic incompatibility with some EOS bodies, but that typically shows up when using older Sigma lenses on newer EOS bodies. Since the D60 is pretty old, a current Sigma lens should work on it OK.
rainer_t
As an extension to what Bob wrote ... the D60 will very likely work ok with all 3rd party lenses designed for APS-C size sensors (Sigma DC, Tamron DiII, Tokina DX) but NOT (!) with Canons EF-S. (This is due to the fact, that EF-S mount is mechanically different from EF mount. The D60, D30 and 10D are using an APS-C sized sensor, but support only EF mount. All later models support EF-S mount, and can thereby mount EF and EF-S).
JDMvW
But I know that many, if not all, of the third-party digital only lenses have regular EF mounts, not EF-S mounts, so a Sigma 10-20mm (for example) should in theory work on older EOS cameras. It certainly does work on full-frame film cameras with, of course, vignetting.
ellis_davison
I had my D60 converted to infrared when I got a Rebel XTi. One of the reasons I got the Sigma 10-20 over the Canon was that it would work with the D60, and it does. (Autofocus is a bit dodgy on both bodies, but that's another issue.)
