john_onderstall
I need some help with Photoshop CS 2. When I pick a colour using any one of thevarious methods available it jumps that colour into my background swatch not theforeground colour. So every single time I pick a colour I need to hit ?x? toswitch the colours around. It never used to do this and I can?t find a way toswitch it back to the default so the colour I pick becomes the colour I?mworking with and not the background??Please help ease my frustration levelJohn
tmcleland
Just a quick follow up. Is this happening with the eye dropper only, or with EVERY color selection process (clicking the swatch on the Tools palate for example)?
keith_clementson
To make foreground default again just double click on the foreground square at the bottom of your tools bar. From then on, any colors you choose will be FG.
keith_clementson
Sorry John. That wasn't right. The following is the right way: Click on the little icon just above your FG and BG squares at the bottom of your tools bar. That toggles back and forth from FG to BG. tmcleland
If the eye-dropper is making the color your select the background color, open your color palatte ("Window > Color" or "F6"). Make a note of which one has a thin black line around it. That will be where Photoshop assigns the eye-dropper selection.

Hope that helps. john_onderstall
Thanks so much! I got the answer I needed. TM Cleland?s answer was very helpful, the problem is resolved! And my blood pressure is back to normal. I was stuck with that problem for about three months and it is now fixed. I have had photoshop for many years and can?t believe the stuff there is still to learn! Thanks everyone.
