bill_carriger2
I have an M7, about 3 or 4 years old, purchased new. When I focus, the entireframe shifts laterally up or down. This happens regardless of the lens attachedat the time. The camera has not been abused, just the normal minor bumps ortumbles. What am I seeing here and how much do you think it'll cost me? Thanks. furcafe
Do you mean the framelines are moving more than they're supposed to for parallax-correction?
bill_carriger2
That's what it reminded me of, a parallax correction! I have not noticed this before. I was using a tripod for the first time with this camera, but the shift seems so extreme I think I would have been aware of a shift even hand held. ronald_moravec1
You don`t notice hand held. It is considerable movement
rgerraty
It definitely does require a tripod to notice this. Certainly when you tell someone of the wonders of mechanical engineering that the Leica exhibits, this feature is disbelieved until seen on a tripod. Best not to get this fixed! Troll
Yeah, the 80% of the negative image which the framelines encompass show different partial/inaccurate views as the lens focuses. Way to go.
bill_carriger2
Thanks everyone. That really is just amazing! The difference between hand held and tripod mounted! I do notice now that I unconsciously compensate for the movement when I am holding the camera. Thanks again for the great assistance, as always! patrick_cheng
I do send my M7 to LEICA service centre for repair of the same "issue". The service manager laughs at me and shows me another M7 with the same "issue". I feel so embarrassed about my poor knowledge in the clever engineering of LEICA.
