linda guerra
Hi All! I have a question about a "photo day" event I have coming up at an exclusive clothing boutique store. I usually do weddings and portraits, usually not in such high numbers as this though. There will be promotional material at the store for one month prior to the photo day. My question is, should I take the clients as they come on the day of, or have them make appointments in one hour increments (for example) ahead of time? I don't want to make more work for the sales staff, and I didn't want people to wait too long...I was thinking to display my number and the appointment info prominently and have them call me and I could take the appointments myself. Or not do appointments and just take 'em as they come in. what do you all think??
richard_beisigl
Linda, How many clients are you talkimg about? How big of a lounge or waiting room do you have? If you allow the clients to just come in without an appointment, then you will feel pressure to hurry and finish with one client to get to the next one. And then there is always the chance of someting going wrong, thereby putting you under more strain. IMHO, I would go the appointment route. jeffrey_blake_adams
you didn't say how you plan to shoot, I have done many of these, and typically will shoot a particular area of the store, with several models, say four or five, all make up and wardrobe is ready, I shoot them whilst the next set and models are being prepped,. linda guerra
Alright, apparently I didn't make myself clear. We are not talking models. These will be the women who purchase their clothing at the store. The carrot is a free sitting and an 8x10. I wanted an opinion on whether to take all comers, appointment only, or a combo of both. linda guerra
BTW, the store has a studio in the back that it uses for yoga classes and other events and this is where I would set up. There is a waiting area in the middle with seating and a large plasma tv.
