laurenm
I know most think of this and therefore watermark their images or don't post atall. I never think of my images as worthy of use by anyone else plus I have thisproblem of just trusting the general nature of people to do good. No one stole anything, but I did get an email today from the editor of a Frenchchildren's magazine (checked it out and appears legit)who wanted to use an oldwedding photo I had posted in a thread a few years ago. the image belongs to afriend and I had just posted it as part of a discussion on the evolution ofwedding photography (or something like that - I can't even locate the thread now). Fortunately, this person was kind enough to contact me and ask permission to usethe image in an article they are doing for children about photography (theysay). I explained that i do not own the image but would be happy to provide anold image from my own family if they would like. I realized, they could haveused it anyway and I likely would never have known. Spending tonight giving some thought to what images I have posted and put in mygallery and some may be coming down (or not).In checking this member out, they joined pn today and they have been checked out6 other times by fellow pn members, so maybe others have gotten a similar request. Anyway, just a reminder FYI and a note to self :)

gpjoell3
Lauren, when I first joined this forum, I posted my portfolio for all to see my work and soon relied that anything and everything you do here is accessible to anybody and ever body. I quickly deleted my photos. I figured if anyone is interested in my work, they can just go to my website. The photos there are right click protected, however, if anyones wants a photo from your website, they only need to do a screen capture and they have it. It is a fine line between protecting the privacy of your clients and displaying your portfolio or images on the internet. It is best to protect your self with a model release or a well written contract.
adityatw
Every photo I posted on the Internet, other than on my web site, has my signature on it. Certain photos I don't really care if people want to screen capture them. They are low-res anyway.
ibdnzgr
Certainly it is an issue. Personally, all my clients give me written permission to use images in my portfolio, as samples of my work and to promote my business. I think this qualifies as all of the above.
