chuck_nakell
I am spending a month in Paris this Spring and would like to be referred to any museums/galleries exhibiting photography that are worth visiting. I am a fine art, black and white photographer, but I am open to anything worthwhile. Thanks.

rachelle_m.
Hi Chuck, Definitely go to the Maison Européen de la Photographie -- they have rotating exhibitions of various photographers' work. The website is: http://www.mep-fr.org/us/default_test_ok.htm which currently lists the exhibits they have on until the end of March. It's between the Hotel de Ville and the Bastille areas. Also, the Centre Pompidou has different kinds of exhibitions going on at any one time, check the website for current listings to see if they have any photographic exhibitions going on. Once you are in Paris (or anywhere in France), it's worth going to any bookstore and buying a copy of Pariscope, which lists every event (from agricultural fairs to movies to operas...) going on in Paris that week. It comes out every Wednesday (usually the best day to buy it) and is only 40 cents. It's all in French, but is pretty easy to figure out what's going on. Finally, it's worth checking to see what the other museums are offering as well. The Rodin Museum currently has an excellent exhibition on Rodin and photography, which displays a large number of photos taken over a thirty period of his artwork (and occasionally the man himself). It's a real lesson in historical techniques as well -- salt prints, platinum prints, ambrotypes, gum bichromate, etc... Unfortunately it ends at the beginning of March so I know that's not much help, but I'm just pointing out that other places, besides galleries, may have photographic exhibitions going on. Enjoy Paris -- one of my favorite cities!

corbin
Chuck,<BR> Go to the Fondation Cartier-Bresson, located 2, Impasse Lebouis in the 14th Arr. It may be off the beaten track, but they always have interesting exhibits - beside the work of C-B. Check the website for access, hours, etc: <A HREF=http://www.henricartierbresson.org/infos/INFO_acces_en.htm TARGET=resource_window>http://www.henricartierbresson.org/infos/INFO_acces_en.htm</A>
