e.l._van_dijk
Recenttly I have purchased a Rollei dt 3200. Nothing wrong with this camera. However I am working with a Mac G4 running under MacOSX. According to the instruction manual this camera requires under Macintosh system Mac 9.1 or higher which OSX clearly is. As soon as I have plugged in the USB connection my computer gives the folowing response: (shortened) "A disk has been placed with volumes unreadable by MacOSX, initialise to continue.. etc."It is impossible for me to work with this camera on my current system, where any other camera I worked with was either directly recognized or at least shown on my desktop as unknown disc. The accompanying software is PC/Windows based, hence unusable for Macs. Is there a solution for this problem and if there is could anyone please let me know. kevin_hunt
I dont think the software is Mac OSX compatable. I know logic would dictate that 10.X is higher than 9 but in this case I believe that your software is only useable in OS 9.1 or 9.2. Try going to www.versiontracker.com or Rollei's website and seeing if there is an update that is OSX compatable. Good luck.
the tightwad
As another Mac owner I can understand all to well so I make it a practice to CALL the various digital camera makers BEFORE I buy anydigital equipment. In my case it's harder still to find compatiblegear because I run a B&W G3 on OS 8.6. I personally am very tired of companies that think we have unlimitedresources to continually upgrade or buy new computer equipment to beable to use the products they want to foist off on us. For thesecompanies I ring up a NO SALE on their equipment. (another great reason to stick with film)
pns digicam
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the problem, but try this:

attach the camera via USB

open iPhoto

turn the camera on

click on the "Import" button near the bottom of the iPhoto window

You should see a message in the lower left corner of the iPhoto window, something like "Rollei dt 3200 32 photos".
If that doesn't recognize the camera then do a Google search for an OS X version of whatever Windows software came with the camera (e.g. if the packaged software is called "ImageBrowser", then search for "ImageBrowser OS X" in Google). ._._z
The Rollei is not directly supported in iPhoto: http://www.apple.com/iphoto/compatibility/camera.html However, if it has utilizes a memory card of some sort you can simply transfer the photos via a cheap (under $15) card reader. andrew robertson
I've plugged in roughly 20 different digital cameras into my TiBook, and they've always seamlessly just plain worked. Maybe you should call Rollei? I don't use iPhoto, I use image capture and just dump 'em to a directory.
._._z
I've plugged in roughly 20 different digital cameras into my TiBook, and they've always seamlessly just plain worked.
The Rollei is not directly supported in iPhoto.
The Rollei specs page says that the camera is supported under Apple System 8.5 and up (but not OS X, which is a different OS), so perhaps there is software that works under Classic that e.l. can use.
BUT... it uses an SD storage card, so the easiest thing to do is spend $10 for an Sd-card reader, and use that to transfer files. Quite easy, actually.
