expats
Have anyone encountered issues printing sRGB JPGs on Epson printers? I'm usinga n Epson Photostylus 830BU and any sRGB images print highly saturated. Otherformats and vector-based clip art print properly. Thanks,Steve
Ed_Ingold
Except for gamut limitations, it does not matter which color space you use for printing IF the program is color managed. Photoshop, for example, is color managed and will interpret the image file for printing based on the embedded color space. If you allow Photoshop to control the color, then use a print profile for that printer and paper. If the printer controls the color, all bets are off. Likewise if you print from a non-color-managed program.
robert_fisher4
It'll depend on what colour space they were in originally if it was different from sRGB and what Rendering Intent you're using to print/convert with. If the images already have high colour saturation, if you're printing to a paper with a smaller gamut or converting from a wider colour space to sRGB and have a lot of out of gamut colours as a result, you can end up with a marked increase in overall saturation depending on the rendering intent you choose. Perceptual is the best choice in such a case rather than Relative Colorimetric. I'm not sure what the 830BU is. A Google search turns up nothing and a search of Epson's USA and UK websites turn up nothing. If; however, it's a small all-in-one or a three colour ink printer then there probably aren't (m)any profiles available for it and you shouldn't expect terrific results from it. If it's an older printer that's long out of production then you're likely faced with the same problem and shouldn't expect high quality results.
