I have currently use ACDSEE 10.0 which is great for organizingand storing, but I am looking for something that is not too expensive thatallows you to covert color digital images to b/w images, or blend differentphotos together...ie putting one part of an image into another. I know there isPhotoshop which is expensive, Photoshop Elements, Lightroom etc....please offersome suggestions. Thanks
don_cooper
Corel Paint Shop Pro, free 30 day trial download to try it. Read the review in the current issue of Shutterbug. Easy to learn, customizable, very capable. In fact I don't know of any feature you'd need that's missing. It's available for less than $70 online at many dealers. richsimmons
I think photoshop elements is a good idea. Plus, it has built in tips and tutorials. PSP is good too like Don said.
Matt Laur
You can also get the entire Corel X4 suite for far less than Photoshop. Very powerful package of goodies.
abe_hollander
I used PaintShop Pro (versions 8 & 9) for years, but just got a DSLR for Christmas, and switched to PhotoShop 6 (costs about the same: $100) solely based on its handling of RAW format files. If that's not an issue for you, I'd suggest PaintShop Pro, as the tutorials and Help section are better. The tools are similar. Not meant to be a full review of those two, but just my 2 cents. Prost. jimstrutz
I have and still use PaintShop Pro X, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I think Photoshop Elements is the way to go on a budget.
geoff_foale
I have never been able to get on comfortably with Photoshop Elements and prefer Serif Photo Plus, which I find more user friendly. Their latest edition X2 is available in the UK as a download for GBP 60, but I don't know about elsewhere. The trouble with asking for opinions on software is that 20 people will give 20 different answers. I would suggest looking through some photography magazines that give independent reports on best buy software.
photobycate
I have just downloaded Photoshop Elements 6 30 day free trial. The download took forever and so far I am not finding it real user friendly. But, let me work it for a while and will let all know if it is worth it to buy.
