Andy Collins
I've got an FE that I recently attached an MD-12 to, and it worked perfectlyuntil yesterday when it just stopped working with no warning-I've never had anyproblems with this motordrive. The film advance lever on the camera was pressedall the way in, the batteries were changed, and I also tried it on another FE,but got nothing. It seems to have happened after I finished a roll of film andthe drive couldn't advance the film any further; after rewinding the roll, thedrive ceased to work. Any ideas or advice? It may be time to get another one,but if I can fix it, I'd like to. In the meantime, I'll just use an MD-11 andhope I can remember to turn it off when I'm not using it to save the batteries. vilk_inc
detach the drive from the camera, switch it on, try shorting the contacts with a coin. is it doing anything? if it spins ok, reattach (may be tricky depending on the position of the prongs)
vilk_inc
...i've done this a few times before, but of course, i cannot guarantee it won't break anything. you may want to wait for a second opinion best of luck
Andy Collins
Well, after cleaning the contacts on both the camera and the drive, I got the drive to work on one FE, but I fear the other FE has the problem, a more serious one. The shutter now only fires partially (opens) when the camera is set to anything other than "M90" and will only close when the camera is again set to M90. Any ideas as to how to remedy this? todd peach seattle, washi
First step is fresh batteries for the malfunctioning FE. That's how they behave on dead batteries. Dress the contacts, etc.
photojim
Todd has it right. It is highly probable that the battery is causing your problems.
