ken_navas
Hi I'm on a budget - ha ha. Looking for a decent lcd 19-22" - I have been recommended NEC/DEll/Sony/Samsung. I really haven't got a clue ... Equally, ,I thought of trying out a tablet/mouse combo. Any sugegstions would be great. ken

Ed_Ingold
If you have a Mac, then an Apple Cinema is arguably the best choice. Otherwise Apple offers little or no support for that monitor. Most LCD monitors have 6-bit image converters. With interpolation, you get 16.2 million colors (not 16.7 million). Depending on the quality of interpolation, the results can be very good. The best indication whether a 22" monitor has 8-bit or higher capability is the price, which jumps from $400 to over $1200. NEC and Samsung have good reputations at all levels. Add Viewsonic to that list too. Eizo represents the top of the line at present. Stick with monitors targeted for "professional" use. Dell's reputation for service and consistency is spotty. You can do very well, but it depends on the lowest bidder at the time of manufacture. Sony monitors tend to be optimized for videos and games at the expense of accuracy.
