joe_lacy
I'm looking for a small Point and Shoot that has IS, a macro lens and shoots raw. What are my model choices? Thanks Joe

davidlong
If you're willing to use alternative firmware, you might consider cameras like the A650 IS, A710 IS, or A720 IS.
larrybc
I've seen some of the RAW results from the A-series cameras and, honestly, they weren't very impressive. Not much gain, imo. larsbc
dmanthree
Are there any current Canon P&S models that shoot RAW other than the G9? I don't think so. Canon caught a raft of BS after they dropped RAW from the G7.
oofoto
The GX100 has a great macro mode, IS and shoots RAW. It's smaller and much lighter than the G9. Not Canon but really worth a look.
peter_mckone
What does macro mode do on a P&S camera?
Greg M
What does macro mode do on digicams? Lets you focus closer... Joe, the Panasonic LX2 also has all of these features and has a unique 16:9 sensor. Here are some RAW conversions on my website... http://gmchappell.smugmug.com/gallery/3986208_wzxnV#253506544 It also gives you access to virtually all controls via either a switch or button without having to access menus, just like a DSLR.. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasoniclx2/page2.asp The RAW conversions are substantially better than the in-camera JPEG engine from ISO 200 upwards. It's the only way I shoot this camera and love it.
