stchan
How do you get a clear Hoodcap off a Nikon D1 without breaking it? There are no instructions in the package, and a google search shows there used to be an animation on the Hoodman site that showed how - I looked in the wayback machine, and while the page is archived, the animation is not. I emailed the company and have gotten no response. Searching this site (and others) has only brought up threads about the hoodcap, with a comment here and there about how it's hard to get off, but no instructions. brett_davis1
Funny you should ask, I just put one on my D1x a little while ago ... the easiest way is to sort of wedge your finger between the right side of the cap and the body, and push. It should pop off. It tends to go on from left to right and come off the same way. It's plastic so it can flex a little.
brett_davis1
To clarify: Wedge finger and push out, away from the body, not in ...
pge
I agree 100% with Brett, it has to come off from the right and the side of your finger makes a perfect wedge.
stchan
That was it - I had to push it a lot harder than I expected to. Thanks guys.
stchan
BTW - I heard from hoodman today - they suggested the opposite of what you guys did - to quote from the email: "You want to grab it with your left hand, push it to the right and pop it up with your thumb."
