benjamin_kim
Hi, I recently came across a Hasselblad 205FCC with the serial numbers ES, which would indicate a manufacturing date of 1990. The 200 series cameras weren't even in production at that time yet. Would anyone know if there were any deviations from the VHPICTURES format that was used? Thanks. q.g._de_bakker
Benjamin,

The answer to the last part is "no". During a very short period, one letter was added to the code, but the VHP[etc.] code was always used.

The 205 TCC was introduced in 1991. To have something to introduce, they must have started production before 1991. So yes, the 200-series was in production at that time, and the 1990 date is not very strange.

What would pose questions is if your camera is indeed an "FCC", not an "TCC". Are you sure? benjamin_kim
Hi Q.G., It's not my camera. I just saw an ad on ebay a little while ago for a 205FCC. It seemed like a cross between the TCC and the FCC, meaning it had the FCC label and the control knob said Pr,Ab,D,Z,M which is consistent with the FCC instead of A,Pr,D,Z,M for the TCC. It however didn't have the 1/4" and 3/8" tripod mount but only the 1/4" mount which was what the TCCs came with. Could it have been a first generation TCC upgraded to an FCC? Having asked that, I know that the physical dimensions of the 2 are slightly different.
q.g._de_bakker
Hello Benjamin,

We can only guess, but the camera in question having been subjected to some 'remodding' is indeed one possible explanation. Difficult to say really.
