will_wilson
Anyone ever tried to make their own readyload/quickload? I know you would lose the dust properties of the real thing, but how long do you really expect big yellow, or green for that matter, to keep making these things. I think there is a huge opportunity for a startup company here. You could sell a ton of Delta 100 or HP5 Readyloads. I know I'd be lining up. Ideas, comments? I'll engineer the holder and packets if you put in the cash.
frankz
I've toyed with that idea also, except my thoughts being a do-it-yourself-at-home type of gadget.
pvp
I do homemade Ready/Quick Loads all the time. They're called film holders.
will_wilson
Touche Alan...I'm thinking for the field photographer, who wants to avoid a changing tent and keep weight down. I'd like to see a load your own film Readyload or Quickload Kit. Just think, What if you could buy a 50 pack Readyload kit with no film, just disposable holders, that you could load with whatever type of film you'd like. brian.
A good Polaroid holder has worked fine for me for years.
ian_mazursky
They did have something like it. It was the Mido film holders. I have one of them. Not what i would call light proof or easy. It broke easily. Mine are practically useless now and i didnt mistreat them. I also would love a commercial readyload load yourself. One day, maybe? pvp
I tried the Polaroid holder with Readyloads, and I had more film malfunctions than I care to remember. Granted that was the original double-sided Readyloads, but I've never quite gotten comfortable with them since. Even tho I have some film in both Q- and R- loads, it's not my "go to" stuff. I can fit 6 double holders into my camera bag, and when you add in the camera, 3 lenses, a 7 pound tripod and all the rest of the crud I think I need to have, film holders don't amount to much. That which does not kill me, makes me stronger... I hope.
jim_norman2
You can still buy Grafmatic holders on eBay. Six sheets of whatever you want. They're much more reliable than the old Midos. Jim
