Charging Lithium batteries in 1Ds charger?

Hi

I've taken the plunge and bough a used 1Ds, and I'd like to get some spare

batteries. I've read all about using some aftermarket brands in place of the

Canon originals. The aftermarket ones seem to use Lithium technology, as

opposed to the original Canons which are Ni-MH. Will they charge OK in the

Canon charger?

I don`t know, but do not overstock on batteries. If the Canon battery is low, then get the

Li.

Li have a 5 year life whether you use them or not. After you get them, keep them topped

off all the time as opposed to Ni Cads which you want to run down. Ni-MH haves much

less memory than NiCads and you can recover them by cycling a few times. So do that

before deciding you need new ones.

Are they *really* Li-ion batteries? Or has some underpaid marketing person just assumed that all DSLR batteries are L-ion? If they are, then you shouldn't charge them in the 1Ds charger which is designed for Ni-MH cells.

On the subject of batteries,i have seen a brand named Rayovac in BestBuy selling 2 types of NiMH AA batteries:

Type 2500mAh that takes 3 hrs to recharge and

Type 2000mAh that takes only 15 minutes.

Which one do i buy?The shorter rechargeable time of 15 minutes seems more reasonable but has a lower mAh.Is a higheer mAH really that important?
