shambrick007
After almost 30 years in this hobby, I'm looking for new photographic horizons(no pun intended), so I'm about "this close" to unloading some unused photo gearand pulling the trigger on a Gaoersi 6x17 and a used 90mm Super Angulon. Forcost reasons, I'll be going with the non-shift-able Mk I version.
I've read the previous posts in the archives, and have done some research, butwould like to have some recent comments (any) from users. Also, it would begreat to see some of your images if you have anything on the web. If anyone hasbought one recently on ebay, who was your seller?
Thanks in advance. ray_fenio
The photo-I UK reviews that you can google will give useful info on the Gaoersi. I bought mine last summer thru the gaoersi website. No complaints. I ordered mine with the 90mm and 180mm cones/viewfinders and mounted my nikkor 90 f8 and 180 fuji A f9. The film advance number sequence is important and varies whether you are shooting 6x17 or one of the narrower formats such as 6x12. I have no complaints and the camera seems well built. They are a good value.
ralph_jensen
Don't overlook the fotoman 6x17: http://www.fotomancamera.com/product_list.asp?id=188 I have not directly compared the Fotoman to the Gaoersi, but it seems that the Fotoman people are much more directly responsive to worldwide market needs and questions (check out for example the dozens of pages of info under the "Q&A" button in the page linked above). Re: your question, I assume you've checked the panoramic forum at apug.org, where I know these cameras are sometimes discussed by their owners.... roger hein
I use an 'early' Fotoman 617 and have had no issues at all with it. I've been able to 'update' my F617 to the latest viewfinder and focus mount for a very reasonable price. Their support is absolutely first rate. Highly recommended!
