Florida Everglades (East/North) - Limited time, where to shoot?

Hi All,

I'll be heading to Ft. Lauderdale for a business meeting at the end of January.

While in the area, I would like to hit the Everglades. The tough part is that

I'll only be able to stay over one extra day (free time: Thurs 1/31 noon to

evening and afternoon of Fri. Feb 1).

With such limited time I am not sure what areas to cover.

 

Suggested birding, gator, sunrise/sunset, etc.locations?

 

Alternatively, are there any other suggestions for the Ft. Lauderdale area?

Is this even a good time of year to visit the area, or should I just hop on the

next plane home?

 

If I stuff the luggage, my lens menagerie ranges from 12mm-600mm so I should

have the range.

And a suggestion, don't take any lenses that you can't carry on the plane. You really don't want them in a checked bag.

I have been to the everglades a few times and this guide has been the most usefull for getting me to great locations with limited time. Maybe if you call them the can sell you a pdf version
