affordable 6x7 slide projector with autotray

Hi,

I intend to buy a Mamiya 7 in the near future. The only thing that bother me is to find an affordable 6x7 slide projector.

I intend indeed to shoot mostly slides and in Europe slide projectors for this format are very difficult to find. The only model I aware of with an auto-tray is the Goetschmann which cost new US$4000 to 5000

while you can typically find used Rollei 6x6 slide projector for about $1000!

<p>

I've recently heard that in Japan a larger choice of 6x7 slide projectors are available. Is anyone aware of it and can give some brand/reference/specifications/prices?

<p>

Actually I'm thinking to buy a Mamiya 6 instead of the 7 if this is such a pain and expensive to get a 6x7 projector.

Can you comment on it too?

<p>

Thanks for any info.

Christian,

<p>

I had the quite the same question just a couple of years ago. Finally

I choosed the 6x6 and fetched the M6. I'm traveling a lot, the M6 is

just the ideal camera, which the M7 is not, due not having the

possibility of having the optic pushed into the body, while not

using. It makes the camera even look like a little point and shoot.

<p>

For Projection, I went for the ROLLEI P66S, which is an elder model.

It has trays (30 S), which are affordable (about 10 DEM), I have no

troubles to project my Slides after pressing them for two nights

between to large books in glasless mounts (very good and affordable

are Kunze 6x6. Try to get the 2.8/150mm or the 2.8/120mm Optic, they

are fabulous. With this equipment I did a public projections in a

church 6x6m (!). A lot of people asked me then, where the Goetschmann

was....

Hi Christian,

<p>

From my page on foreign discount camera sources, mainly Asian sources,

at http://www.smu.edu/~rmonagha/mf/hongkong.html, I have this post:

<p>

Mamiya ProCabin 6x7 slide projector sells only $400 in Japan brand new

vs. 1200+ here in B&H.

(end post)...

<p>

see http://www.bhphotovideo.com/photo/med/projectors/mamprocab.html

for specs etc. of Mamiya procabin series

<p>

As far as I know, this is the lowest cost source for the lowest cost

6x7 current production projector available; perhaps you can email

Mr Zhou for more details?

<p>

You can also find many more links and details on medium format slide

projectors, both new and used, at my medium format slide projector

page at http://www.smu.edu/~rmonagha/bronslideproj.html

<p>

As for used 6x6 projectors, the Rolleis and Leitz and Hasselblad ones

are expensive, but you can buy them from $25 up on EBAY (I have a dual

35mm/6x6 projector with both slide gates which works fine for $25!).

<p>

good luck - those large chromes are just stunning on screen ;-0)

<p>

and if you can't wait - check out my info page on square format

superslides at http://www.smu.edu/~rmonagha/bronslideproj.html#super

4x4cm slides that fit in standard 35mm projectors but with twice the

film area and impact of regular 35mm slides - and they're square! ;-)

<p>

grins and regards to all - bobm
