fc.moreira
Hi, would be a good idea scanning the film with Silverfast SE 48bits HDR modeandprocess it later on with Silverfast HDR rather than doing directly withSilverfast AI Studio? Appreciate your opinion.
Ed_Ingold
Silverfast SE is crippled almost to a point of uselessness. I'm not sure you can scan in HDR mode (even 48 bit mode is limited). HDR is actually part of AI6. In short, try out the free Silverfast AI demo. It is fully functional except that images are liberally sprinkled with "DEMO" logos. If you like what you see (and get), go for the full package.
Ed_Ingold
HDR mode is a way to scan in RAW mode then try several settings in editing without needing to rescan the film. If you have a lot of variation, this can be a big time saver. If you are more consistent, it's usually more efficient to get a "good" 16-bit scan then polish it in Photoshop or Lightroom.
