terencechong
I was using my 5D with a 2GB Kingston flash card tonight when this problemhappened. I took some RAW & fine jpeg shots and while reviewing them on thecamera LCD, I also deleted some unwanted photos. In the midst, the usuallyflashing red led on the 5D suddenly stayed on. I turned the camera the the 'off'position but the led was still on, without flashing (as it would when readingoff the memory card). I then proceeded to remove the memory card.. (the lightstayed on). Finally, I removed the battery for a minute and put it back in thecamera. After turning it back on together with the same memory card inserted, all thephotos which were not deleted were still intact. My 5D has about 3000+actuations on it. What could be the problem here? I have never had this happenedbefore... Appreciate the contributions. Thanks. sattler123
First thing I would do is to try to replicate the problem you had - do the exact same thing again and see if you get the same result. If so, try it again with a different card. If the problem persists, then the camera probably needs to go back to Canon with a detailed description of the problem you are having. zigzag
This has happened to me a few (maybe 3) times on my 30D. In each case I removed and refitted the battery. I have never removed the card. When I do that all is normal again. Mine may be a different root cause so keep an eye on it but I have found no need to send it in yet.
