r._k.3
So, recently I purchased a Canon AE-1, but some images from my films have those strange orange lines and light areas. For example - the image I have uploaded with the post (thank God the image is not good anyways). So does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?<div></div>
HenryUK
I would say it is the light seal at the hinge on the rear door. The foam deteriorates over time and lets light in. This fogs the last picture you took where it winds onto the takeup spool. As a temporary fix you can stick black PVC tape along the hinge. A more permanent fix means fitting new light seals. This is very easy to do. Jon Goodman, eBay ID interslice, produces excellent kits at a very reasonable price. The instructions are also very comprehensive. ladner1959
I agree with Henry. The light seals need to be replaced. I got the kit that Henry talks about and it is an easy process to do. I resealed an A-1, F-1 and AE-1P in about an hour. Hardest part is making sure you remove all the old foam and clean it very good. Lighter fluid is the best cleaning solvent as Jon says in his instructions.
r._k.3
Thanks to both of you for the answers, I think for now I'm gonna find some temporary fix and later order one of those kits.
wildwoodgallery
I like the foam sheets you can buy in Wal-Mart or other hobby stores. It's in the hobby section and use an exacto blade to cut the strips. Rick
