greg jansen
I am seriously considering getting an H3D for my work. I am a full time professional. I tend to do a variety of stuff, some corporate, some editorial, some portraiture, stock, etc. For those of you who have experience with the lenses, would you choose a few primes, or the zoom and one tele? Aside from the obvious "it's what you like" or "it's what you are used to" answers, I would like some real world advice. Anything I'm not able to find in the general discussions. So, for the few who have used both sets, which do you prefer and why? Thanks much! Greg
kipling
i think the 35mm, the 50-110mm zoom and the 100mm f/2.2 is the perfect setup for a people/editorial/portrait photographer. I own and use the contax with contax, hassy and pentax 67 glass, but have used the hassy with these lenses and was very impressed with sharpness and resolution. excelent camera and lenses used by almost every advertising photographer i know. <p> i'm seriously thinking of going with this setup next year, just waiting to see what phase and mamiya come up with. jeff.grant
The 50-110 is excellent but heavy. If you are into handheld shooting, it may be too heavy. Some folks seem able to use it but I need a tripod to get good results with it.
prakash_bala
I vaguely remember reading some issue with the 50-110mm zoom lens coming apart. I think I read somewhere in Luminous landscape where Mr. Reichmann had reported the problem. You might want to check it out. Ps. I dont use hasselblads I use contax 645. jeff.grant
Yep, that's true, complete junk and don't take them in the rain because they melt. That is really old news.

leo_grillo
I have a full range of Hasse CF lenses from my V series cameras ... with an adapter, they are fully functional on the H3D. And though they don't have autofocus, there's an autofocus ASSIST in the viewfinder that let's you know when the lens is focused -- if you have older eyes. BEWARE though -- with the waist level finder (which I use a lot), none of the electronics are visible in the viewfinder -- it is only a ground glass magnifier. That said, the 80mm and the 210mm -- with the 1.7x extender -- cover everything I need except the wide angle. I use my old 40mm for that. BTW - their new 28mm does NOT work with their film back, and their film backs do not work with the new H3D II. So grab an H3D demo for a 30% discount while they are still around.
