Pictures of Sneider 135mm f/3.5

Recommended Posts

As promised, I take few snapshots of my old Schneider 135mm f/3.5 to share with

the forum. The lens come in m42 mount and I used my bower adapter and mount it

on my k100D on a mini-tripod -- ultrapod 2. I highly recommend ultrapod 2 from

REI for $15.00 as it turns out to be sturdy my k100D + Sigma 75-300.

Few snapshots for your enjoyment, last picture contains the $48.00 auto flash

that I won't recommend at the moment as I have not tried enough to recommend it

as a inexpensive alternative to others

Talking about the spirit of sharing! I expect more posts like this from Hin when he acquires more gadgets. In fact, I start to think about doing the same thing since I am over 40 reputable OEM pentax, tokina At-x and Tamron SP lenses. Each one has its own story for sure. This will definitely increase the # of posts in this forum (though I may eventually bore others to slow death).

Cheers

Hin, The heck with the product shots. I wanna see what this baby can do!!!

Although I must say there is something I love about the look and feel of the old glass on any new camera. Something solid about them that says "I've been around for 30 years and can be handed down to your kids if you take care of me!"

@Norman, thanks for the kind words. I am high on caffeine with my Pentax gear. Look here on my recent rampage in ebay and other places:

Pentax Gear from eBay & marketplace

I am still consider myself in the frugal side of spending. Look like a lame excuse, but I do get all of the gears in the photoset for < $200 bucks on 2 slr bodies with pz-10 and pz20, 2 Pentax 28-80, 1 Sigma 75-300, Albinar 28mm f/2.8 on K mount, Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5 on m42 + bower adapter, Rokunar MC 2x Tele, Tamron 2x Tele, Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 (a beauty but can't be used in Digital bodies), and many UV and polarizer. I am blessed and cursed at the same time as I can't find time to take pictures. I need a vacation for the new (or old) toys

@Peter, I did have few test shots with the Schneider 135mm f/3.5. You can see it in this photoset in Flickr:

and I used those pictures in 2 blog posts

@peter, I can't thank you enough for the link. I am someone not handman for the task of grinding down the flange. It is a beautiful lens and I pay $15 for it. I can't believe it. The whole LBA in getting the SLR body comes from my urge in trying out B&W, slides and THIS lens. It is a vivitar with f/2.5 and I seldom see this lens around. A few snapshots to share the shear beauty of this $15 lens that I get from a great person in another forum

#2 the back with flange that need to be modified in order to work with digital bodies
If you are trying to grind/saw this lens, besides removing it from the lens by unscrewing/dismounting from the lens base, how you one use any tool to saw/grind it down, it is not plastic, it is all metal. And I for one would feel sorry to cause any damage to the beauty.

Thanks,
Hin --

With your constant changing of old lenses, I am looking forward to your next series of posts: How to remove dust from your sensor on the cheap!

BTW - I too have a wide-flanged Vivitar 28mm (but a fast one -- f/2) that needs fixing that I am not capable of doing ....
