Courtenay Solaflash 600 - repair?

Hi,

I am still running two old Courtenay Solaflash 600 units. One of them went dead

and I think it could be the lighting bulb. Do you know wether there is a

replacement or a similar newer bulb that can be used if the flash unit is

modified?

I am not scared of doing some soldering or heavy modification... Does anyone

have a scheme?

Thanks a lot!

Not sure what you meand by bulb

do you mean the bulb that lights up the area your going to photograph or do you mean the Strobe this is the outer ring part that flash's when you take a picture.

if it's the strobe then check to make sure it's not a capacitar as these hold the high voltage needed for the strobe and sometimes go faulty.also check your fuse not sure of the 600 but the 2000 i have as an internal low amperage fuse,

if it is in fact the bulb (the lighty up bit) then don't buy any of the modern energy saver bulbs that claim to work with flash heads they are designed for the modern flash units and not the older types like this, and will not work...the new bulds I had to get were the older element type buld... if your in the UK the bulbs i got for my Solaflsah 2000 were Thorn 220/230V-150W p3/4 enlarger E27..542-245B

hope this helps
