craig_supplee
I just bought an Exa O, and after my initial excitement, noticed that it is missing the take up spool. I know this is not the classifieds, but I thought I would ask here first before I place a wanted ad that will get burried there. Please email me if you have an extra for sale. Thanks. arjun_mehra
I'll check; I might have one lying around.
arjun_mehra
By the way, you might consider buying a reloadable cartridge rather than a take-up spool -- ;).
craig_supplee
Thanks. I'm not familiar with the reloadable cartridges. Just got the camera, and am still doing a lot of research on it.

eddiefreed
Often you can use the film spool from a 35mm cartridge and just tape the film to it. I do that with one of my antiques. I also just tried that with my Exa and the 35mm film spool fits and works perfectly.
fldawson
I agree with Eddie Freed. That would be my suggestion too. Try fitting a 35mm spool, out of the cassette, and tape the lead to it if necessary. It may feel a bit tight when you rewind, as the tape pulls loose from the spindle, but it ought to work. craig_supplee
Thanks to all. Sounds like a nice cheap simple solution. Doesn't get better than that. Craig
tony_lockerbie
Hi Craig. I have a dead Exa with it's spool. If you want to give me your address I'll post it to you. Not sure where you live, but I'm in OZ so it may take a while to get to you. Cheers, Tony
craig_supplee
Thanks Tony. I appreciate the offer. I found an old 35mm film spool, so I will try that for now. I am getting tired and can't think straight, where is OZ???
arjun_mehra
A reloadable cartrigde (available from B&H, et al) will give you greater flexibility than will a take-up spool, though it might take a bit longer to be loaded. Tell, me, though, does the film go on the right side or the left side of your Exa (it's been a while since I used one)? If it goes on the left, an appropriate reloadable cartridge will be very difficult (nigh impossible) to find. If all else fails, and you find yourself feeling lazy or stingy (nothing wrong with either), Eddie's advice ought to work fine. Good luck. *Yeah, where the hell is "OZ"? Is there a road made of yellow bricks nearby...? :D
