Is JPEG the only way to post pics in a message??? I'm having a hard time

trying to figure out how to add a pic to my posts.

Hey, you can do it with html, but the simplest way is actually to follow the instructions on the add image box beneath the preview of your text.<div></div>

I thought I followed those instructions. What did Gene do that I didn't do ????? I put in a caption which was totally ignored--the caption it used is the orginal one the pic used on the computer file folder. Also the file was small enough to post directly with no link--I thought.

It's hard going for those of us unskilled in the ways of the cyber world....

Your file was the right width, anyway, but it was simply too large-some 800K instead of the allowed 100K. I don't know, if anything else works, but jpeg will.<div></div>

JPEG is a universal image format. GIF should also work, but GIFs are different on MACs and PCs sometimes and GIFs often lower the amount of color information in an image which makes things look REAL ugly.

Just make you photo no more than 511 pixels wide an 72 dpi, save it as a jpeg and when you uoload it make sure there is a caption so it will display on the screen rather than as a link. Any photo saved at more than 72 dpi is overkill for display on a computer and also makes it tough on folks who still are surfing with low speed dial-up.
