gwendlyn702
Hello Everyone, I am wanting to do something different for senior shoots, and thought I would get everyones opinions on what I am trying to do. Basically, I have put together a team of beauty specialists and would like to do a subltle look and a dramatic look for the senior girls. We did our first trial run at it the other day and everything went smoothly. My question is however, I am not sure if the dramatic look fits into my skills as a photographer. I am not sure if I am positing the model right, or getting the right angles, or even capturing the right mood. I seem to be more drawn to the subtle images. Do you think it is because that is what I would normally shoot and is comfortable with, or do you think it is because I am not capturing the right expression in the dramatic ones. I will try to post a few of the images on here directly, if I cant figure out how to do that than I will upload them to my gallery site on here. Thank you ahead of time for all your help. warrenlewis
What do the girls want to look like ???
johnw436
I'm betting the girls themselves want 1, 2, and 3. Their parents might want 4, 5, and 6. All good photos, but some might consider 1 and 2 just a little racy for senior portraits.
giggles
I think the first ones are good for fashion photography or hairstyle magazines but you are shooting senior photos that the parents pay for. Myself, being a photographer of seniors, I want the kids to look as relaxed and comfortable as they are every day. I want them to wear their favorite outfits and not new ones. The purpose of senior pictures is to capture a permanent memory of their senior year and what they look like. Not to make them into fashion models. Twenty years from now that girl will look back at those images and wonder what she was thinking??? But the relaxed ones will bring back the memories of her senior year. Hope that makes sense to you... You are being hired by parents to immortalize their children as a high school senior - the last portraits most parents will have of their "children" before the wedding portraits. Just my two cents.... best of luck with whatever you decide.
thomas_hardy1
Subtle works for me, especially #1 and #3. I don't like the lighting so much in #2.
gwendlyn702
Warren...Truthfully I dont know what more of the girls would want to look like, I would like to give them the option though however to choose. If I can get the posing and mood right for this type of photography. John...lol funny you say "racy for senior portraits" I was so worried about that the entire time I was shooting her. Emily...You hit everything right on...everything that you said is exactely what I was wondering about. You are totally right. Thomas...Thanks for your input
