DB_Gallery Posted February 14, 2008 Share Posted February 14, 2008 I am mildly considering getting a Howtek hi Resolve Grand drum scanner for all the reasons one would. As it is SCI interface, am I relegated to computers that use this interface only? And what about the whole software versus OS thing? Newbie questions perhaps, but alas... There is also a yahoo group that is devoted exclusively to Howtek/Aztek scanners, but I don't know the name of it. You can probably find out through the Aztek website. uncle git Posted February 15, 2008 Share Posted February 15, 2008 For the mac pro to connect to a SCSI scanner you'll need a rather expensive PCI-X SCSI controller. I know because had the same problem with my new mac pro and Polaroid 45 Ultra. This little dohickey however, worked a treat and my mac pro is now scanning just fine with vuescan and the polaroid - http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/products/FR1SX.html It may not work for all scanners - but it's certainly worth a look as opposed to the $500 scsi card...
