debejyo
Hi, I want to get a lightbox that has uniform lighting and will allow me to get a correct judgment of exposure and color temperature of my slides. I guess a 8x10 is a big enough size for me. Can anyone help me choose a good one within an affordable limit. Thanks.
rashedahmed
I don't know if you find Lightboxes so easily now.4x5 size is good for viewing single slide + it's portable.8x10 is good for viewing all the slides comfortably.Cabin Lightboxes are slim & well illuminated. There are also Kiser,Logan,Porta brands.Check with Mumbai/Delhi photographic item dealers if they have it if you live in Kolkata. You can make a lightbox with two 10W+10W Osram Fluorescent Daylight tubes in a wooden box with a thin white Acrilyc sheet on it if your budget is minimum
louis_webb
Debejyo, where are you based and what do you class as an affordable limit?I have a lightbox made by a Uk based company called Larn.I use it only occasionally but I'm glad I paid the 140 uk pounds that I did for it,as my trannies through a Schneider loupe look great when I get it right. If I don't,then I can tell where I'm going wrong!Btw,this is an 8x10 'box.If you're working in Usd,then this equates to around 270 usd(300 inc.p+p probably).Due to the quality of construction,I see this as a once in a lifetime purchase(the tubes last ages as well-I've had mine 3 years so far). wai_leong_lee
Tons on eBay. Go with trusted names. Logans are cheap.
craig_shearman1
I recommend getting the biggest light box you can afford. 4x5 is fine for looking at one slide at a time. But if you want to lay out dozens of slides to edit what you've shot, you can never have too much space, especially with MF.
