baard_lunde
Dear folks,
As the topic explains, I would like to make v-flats by my own. All the studios in New York I have used have these great v-flats made of foamboards. But it seems to be difficult to locate foamboards or v-flats in Europe. I have tried to make look-alikes with different material but the foamboards are far easier.
Have you guys any idea how to get hold of foamboards (or even already made v-flats)? Any website/distributor/supplier?
Thanks
ronald_moravec1
Foam core should be available in art supply stores. We used to get it at work in 4x8 sheets for mock up work. Try to google foamcore. I use free standing Calumet diffusers. There are optional covers. Get the white for opague. These are 3x6 feet.
michael_notar1
you just need to tape the front of them together. try to find black/white board.
michael_notar1
just lay 2 sheets on top of each other and seal one edge with tape.
peter_steeper
Try going to a sign shop. They should have foamcore or a suitable substitute. Sometimes they will give you scrap pieces or only charge you a few dollars. You can also get 4'x8' sheets from them. You should be able find both white and black material. It will be cheaper than an art supply store.
baard_lunde
Thanks for all the answers.
I made some phone calls today to find foamboards, and ended up with a distributor selling KAPA-boards. They were 140x300cm (aprox 55x118"), and cost $1105 for 12 boards in 10mm thickness(0.4").
I cannot buy such expensive boards. Is there a distributor in Europe selling similar plates, or know of another brand? KAPA is too expensive.
