wildwoodgallery
I'm printing mostly 8x10, some 8x12 & odd sizes and up to 12x18. The photos are in a store of local artists for tourists. I'm using Epson HWT mat right now because that's what I have. Thank you,Rick
waltz
Why not get a sampler pack from some place that sells papers and find out which ones you prefer? Atlex.com has a Hahnemuhle sample pack. Inkjetart.com lets you build your own sample pack from a wide variety of papers. Then you'll know which papers _you_ like and why, instead of following the advise of someone else, whose tastes may be wildly different from yours. andrea_ingram2
I like archival matte but believe R1800 is better with Epson Gloss
geoff_foale
There isn't a best paper. There are many manufacturers but basically paper types fall into 3 types; gloss, semi gloss and matte with a lot of subtle variations in each category. Try to choose the variety which best suits each photo, eg gloss for a sunny landscape, semi gloss for an evening landscape or a personal portrait. Also try to work out what the purchasers prefer. For instance, if I am trying to sell something to the brash summer crowds then high gloss with well saturated colours works best. However, the same image for the older autumn ramblers would work best in semi gloss. Epson papers are designed for Epson printers but don't be afraid to experiment with other brands until you find what suits you best.
