Wedding commerce site

Hi there, i am an occasional wedding shooter, and i am ready to go on line finally and let the families do

the ordering instead of emailing me or calling with all the numbers. A friend uses smugmug, which looks

cool and does everything i need it to, but at a yearly cost which is totally worth it at the beginning of the

season but maybe not so on the last wedding of the season, is there anyone out there that has a more

favorite service that they can recommend, preferably a little less expensive? this has probably all been

discussed before, but i didn't see anything really recent on it. thanks.

I ran the figures on every site I could find, and it all seems to even out eventually: more up front, lower percentage; less up front, higher percentage. I went with SmugMug since I could afford the front money even if I never sold anything and could live with their cut if I did. They have some features I like, and the ones they lack or that I don't like are not deal-killers.

Second place was SimplePhoto.com, you might check them out. I thought there was too much work on my part to keep it running like I want, but it might be right for you (with SM, now that it's set up to my liking, an assistant can handle the work very easily).

I went with Smugmug too, I've been with them for 2 years, I noticed only this week that they've made some upgrades to their shopping cart and checkout screens and functions, which look pretty nice.

One good thing about the yearly fee is that you get a signing bonus if someone uses your name/email address to sign up, and the person signing up gets money off too, a win-win situation as they say !

My main reaon for joining though was the fact that you can customize the web pages to your liking, and they have excellent help tutorials to do that.

I've been happy and so have my customers with the delivery and print quality.

Tony.

Do it on your own site with Enhanced Ordering System templates (EOS, not associated with Canon or me) for one time cost of $99. They can be used to create an order / proofing gallery with PhotoShop, JAlbum, Breeze Browser, and more. The down side to this from the other online services is that you would have to fulfill your own orders.
