oofoto
Just got my GX100 and am impressed in many ways mainly with flexibility of controls. I've not got to grips with the exposure yet but given time I'm sure I'll work out the best setting for differing lighting. Any suggestions on the metering by other users are welcome. How do I display ISO on playback of images? The flexibilty of manual control is very impressive. Some things I was disappointed with are the lack of continuous shooting mode with RAW and also the fact that Cont mode switches off the IS function. If somebody could also explain the difference between the ISO settings AUTO and AUTO-HI that would be great as I just cannot figure out which way AUTO-HI sends the ISO setting. Of course if I had the resulting ISO on screen I could work it out........... or download the files and read it that way.As for picture quality and noise I am at first glance disturbed by the noise seen at ISO400. Below that seems fine but I haven't had time to peep as yet.
Spearhead
To see the ISO in playback, use the playback button rather than the one-shot review. I don't think there is any way to see the ISO with the one-shot review. If you don't see the ISO on the screen in playback, push the DISP button until you do, and then leave it there. oofoto
Thanks Jeff, I had already tried this but I take it you are not using AUTO ISO. I haved just selected an ISO setting of 400 and taken a shot. By using the DISP button this brings up the ISO400 icon on the left. If I go back one image to the AUTO ISO image the icon disappears. Spearhead
Interesting, I always choose ISO, but it appears that it doesn't tell you with the Auto settings. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
unca mikey
Took me a while to find the ISO stuff in the manual, too: AUTO means the camera automatically varies the ISO between 80 and 154 (or more, depending on image size); AUTO-HI means the ISO varies between 80 and whatever upper limit you set. See pp 104-105 in the manual.
oofoto
Thanks Unca, that makes sense now. I think the default AUTO-HI is set to 400 so I need to adjust that to 200 to suit my needs. Still cannot see why it cannot display the ISO that was shot on screen!
jeffrey_prokopowicz
In a logical sense Paul, if you haven't set your own ASA/ISO, you haven't really cared all that much about what it is, so why should your GX100 display it? It makes sense to me. :)
