meltrue
Can I sync two speedlites...canon 550 and a 580 EX. I am able to set the 580 as master and it will fire the 550, but it is so delayed as to be worthless. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help! bluphoto
Melissa, This should not be a problem. The sync between the speedlights has a built in "delay" of about half a second when youre pushing the "test" button, but this delay should notbe there when you're shooting normally. I read another post over the weekend where the users setup was similar and he was having the same problem. In his case, simply cleaning the hotshoe contacts on his camera solved the problem. happy scrubbing! Guy

meltrue
Thanks for the help...Im checking in to it. It may be the way I have custom functions set with the strobes. I am firing the strobes with either my 5D or flash meter...same problem.
enzo_simonelli
I assume You are firing Studio Strobes as wired to the 5D's PC outlet - OR - with on-Camera 580EX/550EX set for M Manual-mode and the 3-positions switch at the base of the 580EX has to be dialed to OFF; otherwise, You still get a pre-flash from the on-Camera Speedlite, triggering the Strobes too early (out of Sync). enzo_simonelli
By the way, did You forget 2nd Curtain Sync Custom Function on the Camera setting? If so, the delay You see, is normal: it should increase along with longer/slower a shutter-speed You would change to.
