peerapong_sutinrerk
Hello guys, I finally decide to get Sigma 10-20 over nikon 12-24 and tokina 12-24 after searching the internet, I found a good deal at absofmaine.com http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=SG1020EXDCAFN I should get if or only 446.86$ ( no-tax and free shipping ) However, there are many review from many people said that you can get a bad coppy of the lens ( if you get the good one is supper good ). My question is that, is any of you buy any lens from absofmaine before? if yes? how is the return policy? if I got a bad coppy can I exchange for a new one? Thank you
paul_ferrante
Their rep is so-so. Customer service is iffy and shipping is slow, but no reports of rip-offs. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Abe_s_of_Maine
paul_ferrante
After further investigation, I retract that last comment. They apparently are rip-offs and are located in Edison, NJ. Second only to Brooklyn for the huge amount of bait and switch electronics companies. http://www.ripoffreport.com/searchresults.asp?q5=abes%20of%20maine&q1=ALL&q4=&q6=&q3=&q2=&q7=&searchtype=0&submit2=Search%21&Search=Search
Matt Laur
You can <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FSigma-10-20mm-4-5-6-Digital-Cameras%2Fdp%2FB0007U00XK%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Delectronics%26qid%3D1184891428%26sr%3D8-2&tag=uplandlife-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325"><b>get it through Amazon's vendor relationship with 47th Street Photo</b></a> for only about $20 more than that, and that way you've got the dealer HAVING to be worried about their reported reputation as part of that relationship. You'll really like that lens, by the way.
Jerry_
You should check with: B+H Photo in New York City KEH in Atlanta ...... www.keh.com or take your chances. Both of the above businesses have a fair return policy. (What you save may not be enough if you go to those "other" guys.)
bruce_margolis
Before you buy from any dealer, find out about their return policy. As far as good and bad copies of lenses, that is true for all of them. In other words, you may have a great lens but a bad copy. That's why the warranty is so important. Michael R Freeman
Any "Very satisfied" positive reviews that you might read on resellerratings.com or similar review sites should be viewed with suspicion. In the past, they have been caught out PAYING customers (suckers?) for positive reviews with a store credit. One should therefore be very skeptical, since there's no reason to believe that this unethical behavior isn't still going on in some form or another (once a liar, always a liar). See http://www.photo.net/neighbor/view-one.tcl?neighbor_to_neighbor_id=192805 and http://www.photo.net/neighbor/view-one.tcl?neighbor_to_neighbor_id=306442 There are FAR more honest and better vendors (mentioned above) that sell for fair and reasonable prices. But if you want to play the "lowest price lottery" with a questionable vendor, have at it. It's your money, and your time if something goes wrong. ShunCheung
Peerapong, if you click on the Abe link you provided, the price is $476.85, not $446. I would rather deal with a store like B&H and you can even ask them to match Abe's price. The worst thing that can happen is that they say no. victor_ho2
The company name implies they are in Maine and the store is in Edison, NJ. The building doesn't look like it's on a retail strip. This suggests that they are primarily a mail order store. There's a lot to be wary about. For the sake of a few dollars, is it worth the headache? Maybe you get lucky and maybe you don't. Why take a chance?
