john_brewton
I didn't need any of my old stuff to update. I suppose when you buy the upgrade Adobe knows (or your computer does) that you already have the existing software and then does the upgrade. Simple really. sknowles
If you registered your package with Adobe, they will look it up, but they do want the serial number to verify your setup. I'm not sure the upgrade price works for just parts of CS2 to any package of CS3 or you have to have the whole suite. Check their Website for the different versions of CS3. Try sending e-mail? As for installing, CS3 installs totally separately from CS2 on Macs (don't know PC's) so you have both. You have uninstall CS2 if you don't want it, but I'm not sure you can uninstall parts of the package. One advantage to keeping CS2 is that there are problems with Acrobat 8 (printing), so keeping Acrobat 7 is a good idea, and CS3 replaces GoLive with Dreamweaver which really sucks (opinion and experience). Good luck.
patricklavoie
you need to have a CS2 software install so the upgarde could instal itself without you having to enter a serial number.
ted_marcus1
I recently upgraded to Photoshop CS3. CS2 was on my computer, and the installer only asked me for the serial number on the CS3 DVD. If an eligible previous version is already installed on your machine, you should have no problem.
