Shipping a Hasselblad

Could anyone give me some advice on the best way to ship a Hasselblad? Thanks.

Wrap in plastic and seal

 

Fit in a small box with newspaper or air cushion filler

 

place in a larger box and fill excess volumn. Seal with string imbedded tape.

 

Ship UPS and insure it. Use the provided tracking number at UPS.com.

 

If not going to a business, have UPS place an Adult Signature Required sticker on the box.

 

I have had lots of bad experience with FedEx dropping things on my porch that should have gone across town, street and number not remotely the same. Driver just emptying his truck.

 

For international, go the the post office. They have tracking, insurance, and better rates.

 

If an individual is never home, ship to will call at his local UPS distribution point. His phone number needs to be part of address.

You can also have him open an account at a privately owned UPS Store that will receive the package and call him. My local charges $3.00 for this. Do NOT send postal mail there, it is illegal, unless he has a post office box.
