andrew_littleford
Can anybody please recommend a good lab to get some 120 colour transparencies printed in Melbourne. I have tried one "lab" who scanned them and then printed and they turned out all blurry, after a "discussion" I received a full refund but don't want to go down that path again. I am after an 8x10 size print. Do any labs still use a wet lab for this work or do they all scan now ? Thanks in advanceAndrew
kris
Lab X in St Kilda - 40 Pakington St - does a good job in scanning and printing.
There's also Image Science in North Melbourne. I have never used their scanning and printing service myself but I've seen my colleague's 80x80cm prints from 6x6 and they are impressive.
Kris
kparratt
Andrew - it sounds like those scans were simply not done by a pro. However, as I've been overseas for a few years, I can only suggest either Bond in Richmond or LaTrobe in South Melbourne. Kris mentions Lab X which also sounds interesting. But I share the dismay over the loss of wet-lab printing, and I've actually started to do it myself. It's just another dimension in my B&W lab. If you have any luck, please come back here with the news. Kevin (cummuting between Oslo and Newcastle upon Tyne)
stephen_lumsden
Hi I found Lab X good for b/w prints, but their prints of my 6*6 slides were not the best. They will not do any sharpening work on any prints so I would give them a miss on this one if you do not want to do you own post scan sharpening. rgds Stephen
