Printing on to Epson Ultra Fine Art paper with a Epson R2400 from PS3

I recently upgraded to PS3 and switched computer platforms to an iMAC. When

printing a 13X19 B&W image on to Epson Ultra Fine Art paper (UFAP), I find that

the paper setting in the printer drive window for the UFAP is grayed out. The

UFAP with best Photo is selected in the first print window which I believe is

directly linked to PS. The MK cartridge is in the 2400 and the color management

is turned off since I have PS manage the colors(to do this you have make the

printer drive think you will be printing in color--strange).

This was a problem sometimes with CS2, the 2400 and UFAP and there were some

resets we could do as sometimes the printer would not understand that ink

cartridges were switched (MK for PK typically). Anyone come across this issue

and or have a suggestion/workaround? Printing on the UFAP using the Enhanced

Matte setting (this is the closest setting that is lit up) renders the print too

dark. Oh, and yes I tried turning the printer off and then back on with the MK

cartridge in it to no avail. Thanks.

I don't know why it does this...but it has happened to me when I switched matte to photo black. I don't think it is Mac issue as I have a PC &Cs2. When it happens I have to turn off and on the printer. Shut down PS, and sometimes even reboot. It does eventually show. I just got the 3800 so won't have to swap out inks plus get larger prints now. maybe the drivers are held in the RAM...I don't know.

Thanks Melanie. Let us know if you experience anything like this with the 3800. What drives

the selection of MK or PK ink in the 3800? Paper selection? Printing in B&W vs color? Just

curious.

Yes it is paper selction. Since you don't have to swap inks the menu comes up all the papers listed under either photo or matte. Much better eystem! Since that happens all the papers are always there.
