a_m25
I'm getting my greedy hands on the Mamiya 6 when my bank account is plump enough. I have a few questions for the Mamiya 6 users on this site: -How do you get over the minimum focusing range? Do you crop and enlarge? -How do you get over the slowness of 3.4-4.5? (I like to shoot in available light, and that often means some obscurity) -And how well-suited is the camera for candids? I love medium format and candid/street photography, so this camera seems to be the obvious choice. Any thoughts?
john falkenstine
You don't get "over" it. You work "with it"

stwrtertbsratbs5
I agree that you just work with system limitations. And sometimes, when only f/1.4 will do, I'll use 35mm. It's sometimes better to use slower films in 35mm than using really fast film in a larger format.
calebcondit
actually the advantage of the Medium format is that you can use ISO 800 films and have a smaller enlargement factor. With 35mm, I rarely use higher than 400 iso. If I want to use iso 800, medium format is perfect. That helps get over the aperture limitations. As far as dealing with not being able to have close focus, it will shape the way you shoot and compose your shots. I think it's great for environmental portraits to have more info. jerry_kirkwood
I had a Mamiya 6, loved the lenses which were soooooo sharp, but after the 3rd time the winding head broke I sold it. That was back some time, now I hear the parts aren't even available anymore.
