david_rothenberg1
In my previous posting I was looking at lenses that overlap the wide / telephoto range. One outlet is pushing the above lense ($350 - $450 used in excellent condition). Anyone familiar w this lense? I can't find much on it.
tommyinca
Check the 75-105mm range at f2.8-f4. Make sure you are OK with it, before you buy. I use the older version of this lens 35-105mm/2.8, good sharpness to 75mm. Beyond that it is soft until stop down to f4. It's soft wide open but could still be an effective portriat range however. In short, you get almost the same optic quality as the 28-75/2.8 and gain the 75-105/2.8 portriat range. You pay for this with the weight and lost of a tiny bit of sharpness . Peter_in_PA
If you're using this with a 1.5x crop digital, then 28mm is NOT wide. You'd be better served by a 18-70 Nikkor.
armando_reyes
I have the Tamron SP 35-105 f2.8 and man I love it. It is sharper than my Tamron 28-75 f2.8, in fact I had a Tamron 35-105 Minolta mount and that one was also a good performer. On crop sensors this focal range is the perfect portrait lens. My sharper optics are the 50mm and the 85mm in canon mount, but my Tamron it is not much of a less quality image at any compared focal length. daviddbfotoart
I had an SP 28-105 on my f80 when it was stolen. Dont care that I lost the camera, but sad that I lost the lens Obviously wont give the same performence on a dSLR, but was a great lens.
jacob_demerjian
I have this lens, use it on a D200. most all of my shooting is done wide open, using ambient light....it focuses quickly and is sharp.
