Linhof ballhead plate

Hello,

 

I have a Linhof ballhead. I believe the plate is dual thread meaining that one

side is 1/4 and another 3/8. Does anybody know how I to unscrew the plate.

 

I tried to lock the ball and unscrew the plate but the ball just rotated.

 

Any ideas?

My Linhof head has the same plate and it just unscrews and can be attached the opposite way for the other screw size. My head is quite old but it does not have any locking ring or screw, just simple 3/8 inch threads. It looks exactly like yours. I unscrewed the plate and fitted a Arca Swiss system quick release platform directly to the staff with a 3/8 inch bolt. You can try holding onto the stem of the head with pliers if you can't tighten it enough.

Thank you. Using pliers I was able to unscrew the plate.
