upgrading printer

I have used epson 2200 for couple of years, good machine. I would like to be

able to print larger prints with as good or better quality without breaking the

bank. Appreciate help. Would like to print short side of 18 or 19 inches.

17's doable for decent money, but I think the next up from there's 22, which will cost you.

You could look at a used printer. I was in the same boat with my 2200 and picked up a used 7600 for about 800 bucks. It's a generation older than the 7800, but substantially cheaper.

The usual places.....Craig's list, ebay. I got mine off ebay. Depending on where you live, you might be able to bid on one where you can just pick it up.

John, I went for a 3800. Not a visual improvement over the 2200, but the K3 inks are more archival and there is much less metamerism using the new papers. However, the biggest improvement IMO comes from the 80 ml ink carts over those dinky ones for the 2200. You'll save money in the long term.
