I am planing on buying a D200 (I have a lot of Nikon lenes). As I am cheking

things out at my local shop the sales dude said that the flash on the D200 can

act as a master flash for the SB800/600. He said that one can use it as a fill

and have the SB800/600 be the main somewhere else.

I have an SB600, I don't have a D200 manuel, is this ture?

Also... the Nikon rebate end this month, is ther specuation that there will

be better rebate or a price reduction. not sure if I should wait until august

to get it I have a large check comming then, but it will miss the current

rebate.

Yes, "sales dude" was almost right.

D200 built in flash can command SB-800/SB-600, and the latest Nikon macro flash, on channel "A", and "B" in the Nikon CLS system. D200 cannot command on channel "C", contrary to some believes. Command - means can control amount of light output from remote flashes.

Download D200 electronic manual for D200 before you get it.

If you wait for August ? - perhaps by then there could be a newer camera from Nikon?

Dennis if you use flash a lot and got many Nikon lenses , especially AI(S) the D200 is a great camera. As Frank explained you can even control 2 groups of flash and set different output in the two channels.

The internal flash is not really integrated into the system as a third flash but with some practice it can be used as such in some condition (short distance). Many who do not use older lenses or shoot flash a lot like the D200 - you have two more reasons to like it a lot.
