Voigtlander Heliar 12mm Lens Hood

I was wondering if anyone on this thread has seen this problem.

I have a Leica M6 TTL and recently purchased a Voigtlander 12mm Heliar lens.

I took a test roll today to check out my new lens.

With the lens hood attached, I see dark edges on the negatives. The lens

appears to be so wide that it catches the lens hood!

Without the lens hood, everything looks normal.

I like the lens hoods especially since the lens cap attaches to it and not the

lens itself (http://www.photo.net/photo/6073666).

Has anyone ever seen this before? Any workarounds?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

There is something wrong with the lens. It is "looking" to the left and seeing the shade.

If you photograph an evenly lit surface, there should be uniform vignetting in all four corners. Yours is all on one side.

The shade makes no effect on my lens except for some minimal side light protection.

Vignetting occurres only in corners, not along the whole side.

Do you have the narrow portion of the shade on top and bottom and wide on the ends? The long protrusions belong on the top and bottom and clamp screw on the side.

The shade should not be in the pic if oriented properly. If it is, the lens is defective.
