mark_wilson4
This one is a favourite...perhaps my oldest camera. The Vario shutter has 3 speeds, all of which last for the same duration. Any speed you want, as long as it is 1/50 sec, plus/minus. Apologies to Henry Ford. The body is battered, but the lens is clear as a fresh-water brook.<div></div>
mark_wilson4
The branding reflects the British firm UNA, but the camera looks to be of German manufacture. I took an exposure on "B" in the mall. I like how the blur and the black and white visual rhythm suggest music. At least, that's my delusion, and I'm clinging to it.<div></div>
sw12dz
I like the photos Mark, especially the second one, but I seem to be missing a pic of the camera.
mark_wilson4
Doggonnit...don't have one at hand. Nor do I have a digital camera to take one. Have to dig up a print from the shoeboxes.
justin_mueller
Mark - what puzzles me is the accordion guy's foot is sharp, but his hat is furry...
mark_wilson4
It was a long exposure...maybe he was firmly planted but his lid was a-shakin'. Could be film flatness issues with this camera...it is reasonably sophisticated inside, but I think modern film is thinner so maybe the focus is variable depending on how the film sits. Hmmm...dunno why
riccardo_mottola
if you have one of those ibsor-like shutters, some cleaning and flushing of some elements inside might give you the 3 times back. It did on mine. I don't know how precise the timings are, but I can see the different timings on my 6x9 now.
mark_wilson4
Thanks for this...I didn't guess it would be true. I've successfully cleaned Ibsors, so maybe the Vario will be an even better candidate. most appreciated. M
mark_wilson4
Who the heck is Justin Mueller? Sounds like some German oukie
Robert_Lai
Ah... Grand and Toy stationary stores, and Dominion Grocery stores. We must be in Canada! Sometimes I do miss the old homeland - true north strong and free.
mark_wilson4
It took me a while to figure out that Grand and Toy didn't sell action figures or computer games. Where are you now, RL?
