Rattling inside D40 body

For any D40 owners out there, when you put your ear right next to your camera,

does it give a very faint rattling sound, like there's a marble in there sitting

in a metal well?

really? can anyone else confirm this? my old Canon SD200 could detect orientation without any (audible) loose objects...

All of these cameras have an orientation sensor in them, and my D50 makes the same rattle.

It'll work better if you bring it to your eye rather than your ear.

A pixel might have escaped and is now lost inside the camera body. Mega pixels are quite large and can be noisy. Or, it might be the orientation sensor.

Which reminds me of the time when a (very) junior computer operator dropped a magnetic tape on the floor and was told to sweep up the bits of data that had come off the end of the tape with a special dustpan & brush. He did - then the Ops manager came into the computer room... (I wasn't either person).

I figured I'd just blatantly lie about an easily confirmed fact. Y'know, for fun.

my 50 rattles too which i was suprised but then i figured out on my own that the rattle was some form of device to tell the camera when the body is taking vertical shots .kinda like the safety device found on some space heaters as a safety device to cut the heater off when it tilts so far .I guess I own a couple of space heaters.these are some expensive heaters and they don't heat very well.
