stephenwood
I almost always print with my 7800 on a matte paper using MK but if I want to use say the semimatte (an RC paper) will the MK give me undesireable results? I really don't want to change the inks for a few prints once in a while.
patricklavoie
Yes you would get undesireable results, almost like solarisation. Try it once, you will see.

greg lockrey
I know my response is just a matter of opinion but here it comes anyway: I have a 3800, 4800, and 9600. I bought the 3800 to be able to change from MK to PK on a whim and to do two sided cards. This works fine for these purposes, but I sure don't like how a 17x25" print looks when it's glossy or semi-glossy let alone how a 24x36' one would. Just too much gloss. :>( IMHO the matte looks better when large. If you have to do your glossies, I'd save them up for a large run or if you are making prints for clients, then charge them a set up fee.
greg lockrey
Another way to get gloss or semi-gloss results is to use a laminate product like Seal Gloss UV if you have a drymount press at your disposal. Kinko's usually have laminater services if you don't.
