bud_gray
Hello All, I just acquired a Yashica Mat 124 equipped with a Copal S-V shutter. I've tried searching here and on Google, but I can't seem to find any really relevant information on this shutter. Are there other Copal shutters? How does this shutter compare with shutters on other TLR medium format cameras? I'm certainly not looking for a comprehensive engineering review of this shutter mechanism (although if you know how to do this, feel free). I would just like to know a little more about my equipment. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bud
don_gillette
Bud it is a good shutter but suffers wear when used a lot, parts are mostly brass, The least bit of grease will jam it. Parts are available so it is easy to fix.Self timer sometimes gets dirty because of it's location. I have done more repairs on yashica wind which misses a frame when grease gets hard or paws get rounded. But what a great lens...Don
